Spirit Airlines had round-trip tickets under $100 from Cleveland so we flew out on a Friday and came back that Sunday. It was a very cheap, affordable trip overall and we really felt like the only money we spent was on food. Ate at a lot of seafood and Italian restaurants, and stopped at a few Irish pubs. We stayed in a really old apartment we found on Airbnb in the Financial District. Had original floors and decorations and was really neat – even original Fenway bench seats in one of the rooms. The Financial District is right by Boston Harbor and pretty close to Boston Common (10 minute walk) so it was a great location to explore a lot on foot. The start to the Freedom Trail is really close (allow at least a half day for the whole trail) and Faneuil Hall is just a few blocks away and a great place to shop, eat, and listen to music. Also lots of other restaurants within walking distance. The only thing we really wanted to do but didn’t get to was visit Fenway Park. We went in early November and it was hoodie weather, actually pretty comfortable. Very nice destination for a short getaway that won’t break the bank – lots of free attractions.
