Boston, Massachusetts

5 Days in Aug
North America

Route DetailsMap

Day 1
  • Logan Airport (BOS), Boston, MA, USA

On our first day, we flew from Cleveland to Boston in the evening, and took an airport shuttle to our hotel. We arrived late and stayed at the hotel for the evening. Weather was warm and rainy!

Day 2
  • Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, Congress Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Boston Duck Tours, Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA, USA
  • Freedom Trail Starting Point, Freedom Trail, Boston, MA, USA
  • Regina Pizzeria, Boylston Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Mike's Pastry, Hanover Street, Boston, MA, USA

First day in Boston we did all the best touristy stuff–went to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and saw replicas of the ships, and in the museum you get to participate in a reenactment of the Tea Party, which is great for all ages (especially for kids). Afterwards, we took a Duck Tour of the city which of course included time on the water. It was a great way to start the trip, because it helped give us ideas for the rest of the time we were in Boston.

After the Duck Tour we walked a lot of the Freedom Trail, seeing many different parts of history from the American Revolution. It’s so easy to walk the Freedom Trail because it’s actually marked on the sidewalk in Boston, with a red line.

We ended the evening with visiting a Boston pizza landmark, Regina’s Pizzeria, which was delicious. And then hit up Mike’s Pastry, another landmark, for amazing cannolis.

Day 3
  • Salem Witch Museum, North Washington Square, Salem, MA, USA

On our third day we took a ferry to Salem. It was super bumpy (we had rainy weather). In hindsight, I’d recommend the train both ways!

Salem was kitschy, but fun. Lots to do with the Salem witch trials, of course. We visited the Salem Witch Trials museum, which was a little odd, but interesting. Salem has tons of boutique shops and museums, and is an easily walk-able city.

We left Salem by train to come back to Boston!

Day 4
  • Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA
  • Charles Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Newbury Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Boston Public Garden, Charles Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Boston Public Library, Boylston Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Fenway Park, Jersey Street, Boston, MA, USA
  • Sweet Cheeks Q, Boylston Street, Boston, MA, USA

On our 4th day in Boston we visited Harvard and walked the campus, as well as several streets filled with boutique and upscale shopping–Charles St. and Newbury St. Because Red Sox games were insanely expensive, we opted for the cheaper option to visit Fenway–guided tour. The tour was fantastic, and we saw the ins and outs of the park, which you wouldn’t get with a game ticket.

We ended the day by visiting the Boston Public Library, one of the greatest libraries in the world, and heading to a restaurant called Sweet Cheeks BBQ which had really great food.

Day 5
  • John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston, MA, USA

On our last day in Boston we visited the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, which is outside the city. A worthwhile visit for history buffs, or for those fascinated by JFK! Then, we headed home!
