Epcot and Universal Studios

2 Days in Nov
North America

Route DetailsMap

Day 1
  • Epcot, Epcot Center Drive, Orlando, FL, USA
  • Mama's Comedy Show, International Drive, Orlando, FL, USA

Saturday we went to Epcot – we got one ticket for free because our friends knew someone who worked there. Honestly would have skipped Epcot, thought it was pretty lame. The architecture at the different spots around the world was pretty cool, as was the Chevy Test Track, but not for $100 per person (or even $50 for what we paid). Also went to see Mama’s Comedy Show, which was hilarious and quite a bargain.

Day 2
  • Universal Studios Florida, Universal Boulevard, Orlando, FL, USA
  • Universal's Islands of Adventure, Universal Boulevard, Orlando, FL, USA

Next day we went to Universal and bought a pass to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. We didn’t really want to pay for the extra park, figured there was enough to do in one of them, but the longest we waited was 30 minutes for anything (on a Monday in mid-November) so we got to ride everything we wanted (except the Rip Ride Rockit, it started raining at the end of the day and they closed it before we could get on). Flew home the next morning

Both of the Harry Potter rides are awesome and the rides/attractions really are unlike anything else, it’s just mind-boggling how expensive it is. I know they give better deals if you go more than one day, but still costs a lot. If you’re there on a busy day and will be spending time waiting in lines, I’d say save your money, there’s enough to do in one park. As far as which park to choose, I know Harry Potter is a huge draw but I knew nothing about Harry Potter, never read the books nor seen the movies. I liked Islands of Adventure better in that regard cause the castle and village were really neat without having any expectations or background. But I guess Diagon Alley is just like it is in the movie, so a big fan might want to go there more (my wife thought it was so awesome).  Overall I thought Universal Studios Florida had the better rides though.

I want to experience as much as possible when I go to a new place. The routes that I plan are usually packed full of exploring and finding the best hikes, food, sites, and experiences that I can’t get anywhere else. The idea of a staycation deeply saddens me, as the precious vacation time we get should be spent far away from home. Favorite city: Prague. Favorite tourist attraction: the temples of Angkor in Cambodia. Favorite “paradise” destination: Tahiti.
