Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, and Naples

7 Days in May
North America

Route Details

  • Fort Myers Beach
  • Bonita Springs
  • Naples
  • Sanibel Island

This trip was a little more unscheduled. We arrived in Fort Myers and stayed in Bonita Springs (20-25 minute drive from the airport). We decided to head out every day to a new place whether that was close to Fort Myers Beach (35 minutes) or Sanibel Island (1 hour). It was very unscheduled and very relaxed for both of us. We purchased two Living Social deals – one for the Everglade Gardens in Bonita and the second for a water jet boat in Naples area (30 minutes) which was soo neat! We went out on the water through the preserves and had a private boat to ourselves since it was overcast. We also went jet skiing on the beach which was the best! We really wished we could have done that every day. We were really pleased that we stayed in Bonita even though it was far away from the beach because the resort was gorgeous and the hotels on the beach were run down and unclean.

Pros: Hyatt Residence Club – not a hotel but condo living. Full kitchen, separate bedroom, huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and two screened in porches.

Hello pools! Lap pool, kiddy pool, adult pool, family pool and lazy river. This place is pure resort style!

Buy groceries! Pack or rent a cooler and get ice and food from the clubhouse and carry onto the private beach.

Rent a car and have the luxury of heading to Fort Myers beach, Bonita Springs, Naples and more.

Ability to head over to the Hyatt Regency – bar and restaurant open late.

Playground on pool deck for kiddos

Private beach with chairs and umbrellas

Cons: not much of a view from the rooms

A little more than 25 minutes out from the nearest beach town/boardwalk. But worth the location, privacy and cleanliness!

Research restaurants nearby or you’ll want to cook your own. Not much around town so you will need to drive.

Must rent a car.

On site restaurant closes at 7.

Really windy and lots of shells on the beach. Get on the ferry early so you guarantee a chair and umbrella very pretty and long stretch of beach property.
