Route Details

We went here on a mission trip and spent a few days doing some sightseeing.

Lake Atitlan

Flew into Guatemala City and had a driver take us to Lake Atitlan (around 3 hours), then a small boat to Casa del Mundo, which is this amazing cliff-side hotel. Beautiful views of the volcanoes across the lake. Family-style dinners, so you get to meet other travelers. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed.

Santiago

Across the lake is a town called Santiago, short boat ride from the hotel. Spent a day there picking up stuff from street merchants and shops. Nice, relaxing place.

Antigua

Around 2.5 hour drive from Lake Atitlan, on the way back to Guatemala City. Larger city with a European-feel, much more of a tourist destination. More ritzy hotels and restaurants. Lots of shops, easy to navigate by foot.
