Route DetailsMap

Day 1
  • Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Spirits On Bourbon, Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA, USA

Went to Club 300 Bistro/Bar for dinner after flight.  Bistro in the back room of a bar with good Thai peanut chicken wings and onion rings.  Went to Bourbon Street and stopped in a few places with good live bands doing cover songs.  Stopped in at Spirits Piano Bar for a quieter place.  We stayed at an Airbnb that were converted condos on the top floors of a hotel.  They were very nice and well priced, but a little far from French Quarter.

Day 2
  • SoBou Restaurant, Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • The National WWII Museum, Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Brennan's, Royal Street, New Orleans, LA, USA

We went to SoBou restaurant for lunch.  They are known for their cocktails and many different options.  The food was pricey, but good.  Then we took the bus to the World War II Museum.  Very good museum with different kinds of displays.  We went to Brennan’s for dinner, which is the home of Banana’s Foster.  The food was great and the Banana’s Foster was flambéed at the table.

Day 3
  • Ruby Slipper Cafe, Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Airboat swamp tours new orleans, France Road, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Antoine's Restaurant, Saint Louis Street, New Orleans, LA, USA

Breakfast at the Ruby Slipper with NOLA style iced coffee.  Then airboat swamp tour with Louisiana tours.  We were picked up at the hotel for an extra fee.  Very knowledgeable guide on the swamp tour and got to see some small alligators.

We booked a private room at Antoine’s for dinner that night.  There was no fee for the room and you only paid for what you ordered.  The service was phenomenal and the food was well prepared.  They had dessert that was also flambéed at the table, but the best part was the Café Brulot Diabolique.  This was spiced coffee that was flambéed on the table, but they also pour the flaming liquid on the table.  Very cool to see.  After dinner, we headed back to Bourbon Street for some music and drinks.

Day 4
  • Garden District, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Cafe Du Monde French Market, Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Gumbo Shop, Saint Peter, New Orleans, LA, USA

We went to the Garden District to walk around and go into the shops.  We tried to see one of the cemeteries, but it was closed.  We then headed to the Jackson Square area to get beignets and coffee at Café Du Monde.

We did a night haunted pub crawl to see many of the haunted bars in NOLA.  It was fun, but not a lot of time at the bars and could have used more information at each place.  After that, we headed to the Gumbo Shop for the best chicken and sausage gumbo of the trip.

Day 5
  • Jackson Square, Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Muriel's Jackson Square, Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • The Spotted Cat, Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA, USA

We went back to Jackson Square to do some shopping in many of the shops and with the street vendors.  We went to Jazz and Brunch at Muriel’s and then did some more shopping.  After that, we headed to Frenchman St for more music.  We went to the Spotted Cat for live jazz and then walked around to different places for more music.  We also went to an open air market on the street.

Day 6
  • Atchafalaya, Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA, USA
  • Rib Room, Saint Louis Street, New Orleans, LA, USA

We headed to the Garden District for lunch at Atchafalaya where reservations are required.  The food was good, but the service was so slow.  We headed back to Jackson Square for more shopping and wandering the French Quarter.  We ended the night at the Rib Room, which had excellent prime rib and we enjoyed the service and atmosphere.
