Route Details

Day 1

Arrived by plane in the late afternoon, picked up by friends and went to a beach for cookout/drinks/sunset.

Day 2

  • Hiram M. Chittenden Locks
  • Pike Place Market
  • Kerry Park

Next day we started off with breakfast and went to the Locks and watched the fish go upstream. Went past the original Starbucks then to Pike Place Market – go hungry and get a lot of food, especially the macaroni and cheese from Beecher’s. Walked around the downtown area for a bit and then headed to Kerry Park for the view, stopping for doughnuts on the way. The skyline of Seattle really is beautiful and I could see myself going to this area to run a lot if I lived nearby. Went to dinner and got dropped off at the airport for the redeye flight home.

We want to go back to Seattle when we have more time and would love to explore Mount Rainier and go to the flight museum. I can’t speak for the winters and I know they say it rains a lot, but it was really nice when we were there in July.

I want to experience as much as possible when I go to a new place. The routes that I plan are usually packed full of exploring and finding the best hikes, food, sites, and experiences that I can’t get anywhere else. The idea of a staycation deeply saddens me, as the precious vacation time we get should be spent far away from home. Favorite city: Prague. Favorite tourist attraction: the temples of Angkor in Cambodia. Favorite “paradise” destination: Tahiti.
