I took a trip to Toronto (Ontario, Canada) for a weekend bachelorette party and the city was a blast!

Day 1

We drove most of the first day for our Toronto trip, so the first stop we made in Toronto was our Airbnb, which was a nice little apartment in a large apartment building on Front Street.

Next, we walked over to a trendy little restaurant called Pizza Rustica. Their drink selection was pretty limited (they also were completely out of some of the things listed) and the cost of the normal brands of beer were very pricey (even for Canadian money). The food, however, was pretty delicious. We were a cheerful group and our waiter seemed happy that we were having a good time and even commented about it to us, which made us even more cheerful. I would recommend this place for pizza or calzones, but definitely go somewhere else if alcoholic drinks are important to you during dinner.

Day 2

  • CF Toronto Eaton Centre
  • Nathan Phillips Square
  • Trapped!
  • Seven Lives
  • KINKA IZAKAYA
  • Sweet Jesus

For breakfast the next day, we attempted to go to a restaurant called Eggspectation, but the wait was over an hour, so we headed to the mall right next to the restaurant (CF Toronto Eaton Centre) and stopped into the Tim Hortons there for coffee and donuts. We looked around at some of the shops and it seemed like a nice mall with a lot of shopping options.

Since we were in the area, we headed over to Nathan Phillips Square to take some pictures with the Toronto sign.

For our first activity, we went to the Trapped! escape room located on Dundas Street West. This escape room was one of the most well-done ones I’ve been to and was cheaper than previous ones I’ve been to as well. We did their Diamond Heist room, which was very challenging. We got close to solving it, but didn’t quite get it in time. I would definitely recommend this escape room to others!

For lunch, we went to the extremely well rated taco restaurant called Seven Lives. Their tacos are well priced and delicious! Some things to consider before going – they only accept cash, there likely will be a long line, there aren’t many places to sit so you may need to get the tacos and eat them outside. Even though we ate our tacos while standing in an alley next door (with cool murals at least), we all enjoyed the tacos and the experience.

After lunch, we played games at our airbnb and then went to dinner at an interesting Japanese restaurant called Kinka Izakaya. After walking in, we were shown an area to take our shoes off, which is a cool part of the dining experience there. Their menu mainly consists of tapas-style dishes to share with others, but they offer a few options for one person as well if sharing isn’t your thing. They have a wide selection of alcohol and a lively atmosphere. We would regularly hear cheering when waitresses brought sake shots or sake bombs to tables and they stayed to cheer on the drinkers. The tables are set pretty low and you sit on cushions on benches that are sunk under the tables (see pictures for a better idea of what I mean). The food here was delicious and the experience was great – I would definitely recommend to others.

For dessert, we headed over to an instagram-pro ice cream shop called Sweet Jesus. Their ice creams concoctions are impressive looking and taste pretty great. You may have to wait in line for a while because of their popularity, but things move along quickly.

Later on in the night, we headed over to a club we found and after waiting in line for at least 30 minutes, we had a great time watching their drag show. I’m unsure of the club name as we stumbled upon it.

Day 3

  • The Lockhart
  • Graffiti Alley
  • Bite Beauty Lip Lab
  • Poutini’s House of Poutine

To start off our last day, we went to a charming Harry Potter themed restaurant/bar called The Lockhart (now closed). I would recommend getting there right around when they open (which is what we did) if you have a group and want a table instead of sitting at the bar because the seating is limited. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in various Harry Potter themed decorations/props and their menu is themed as well (including Butter Beer). The staff members here were extremely nice and accommodating and made the experience that much cooler. We were very happy with this choice for brunch.

After brunch, we checked out Graffiti Alley, which is a cool alley filled various kinds of artistic graffiti. Next, we went to Bite Beauty Lip Lab where employees work with customers to create a custom shade of lipstick right in front of them. We reserved a group spot a couple weeks in advance, which I recommend doing in case they’re full. We started out by telling them what general shades we were looking for and they would go through shades and mix things together until they made one that each of us loved. They mixed a few shades for each of us and were patient and fun when we were indecisive about what we wanted. You also get to choose the finish (matte, satin, etc) and a scent. Once you have the shade you want, they fill a tube with the liquid, then freeze it to set it in place in the tube. The price of the lipstick and experience is $55. This was probably my favorite thing we did in Toronto and we all had a great time.

For our last stop, we got lunch at Poutini’s House of Poutine, which offers very filling poutine options. They have limited seating options, but their food was great and decently priced.
